Singapore Airlines (SIA) has increased the amount of luggage passengers can bring on all flights effective November 15, 2013.
Chin Yau Seng, Senior Vice President Sales and Marketing for SIA said the change has been made to improve passenger services and includes a 10 kilogram increase in amount of checked baggage in all classes of service.
First class passengers and Suite Class passengers are now allowed 50 kilograms of checked luggage, Business Class passengers 40 kilograms, and 30 kilograms for Economy Class passengers.
Chin said the change was based on passenger feedback and to underline the Airline’s continuing commitment to increase service to its passengers.
Passengers flying to and from the United States where luggage allowances are calculate on a “per piece basis” passengers flying in Suite, First or Business will be allowed to check in two-pieces of luggage with maximum weight per piece of 32 kilograms – an increase form the previous maximum of 23 kilograms.
Kris Flyer Elite Gold and Star Alliance Gold members will continue to enjoy a 20-kilogram extra allowance for checked baggage in all classes of service or an extra bag on flights to and from the U.S.A. and Brazil.
