In the continuing trial of two foreign workers from the Feyloon Chinese Restaurant in Kuta charged with criminal assault on a Bali Tour Guide, the court heard on Thursday, January 2, 2013, how Hendra Haryanto, the victim of the attack, has been traumatized and is no longer able to conduct his chosen profession.
The State News Agency Antara quoted Haryanto who told the Court, “After the incident, I was traumatized and frightened to work again as a guide.”
In his testimony before the judges he detailed how two men - the owner and manager of the Feyloon Restaurant, beat him in a parking lot opposite the restaurant on August 4, 2013.
Charged with criminal assault before the court are Malaysian Wong Wei who works as the manager of the restaurant and Way Yiu Fai from Hong Kong, listed as the establishment's owner.
“I was hit by the two suspects on my left cheek and lips, knocking medown to the ground. I tried to explain to the suspects, but they would not listen and kept pushing and hitting me,” said Hendra.
The trial presided over by Chief Justice Sugeng Riyono also examined medical reports detailing injuries to Hendra’s lips, cheek and arm.
Confronted with the forensic evidence, Feyloon’s owner, Way Yiu Fai, told the Judge, “Yes, It was me that did that.”
The attack has been linked to a disagreement with the guide who increased the cost of menu items from Rp. 150,000 to Rp 160,000 each – a price change that precipitated complaints from the diners and left the two men from the restaurant infuriated.
The men are charged with violating paragraph 170 of the Indonesian Criminal Code (KUHP)
