In order to reduce traffic congestion in the Kuta area of Bali, a joint resolution between police, traffic officials, local government and community representatives has declared parking is prohibited in certain areas of Kuta, Bali effective Friday, January 24, 2104.

Quoted by DenPost, I Nyoman Resa, head of the Kuta Police Precinct, said the areas that will be now be free on on-street parking for automobiles are:

  • Jalan Pantai Kuta
  • Jalan Raya Kuta
  • Routes lead to Bali's Ngurah Rai International Airport
Motorcycles will continue to be allowed to park on Jalan Pantai Kuta with other vehicles directed to park in the underground parking facility at the Beachwalk Shopping Complex.

Violators of the new parking rules  will be ticketed.

On Jalan Raya Kuta parking will be prohibited in front of the popular shopping stop at Joger. Traffic will be diverted to Wisma Bima. Vehicles will only be allowed to stop to embark and disembark passengers. Police also have plan to install traffic cones connected with small ropes to prevent parking.

Police have said they will issue tickets to violators of the new anti-parking rules, a step to be supplemented by foot patrols each evening between 7:00 to 9:00 pm.
