Serenity Bar and Restaurant – Spanish Dining in Style in Sanur, Bali

(2/23/2014)

Stylish Mediterranean-style dining has come to Sanur, Bali with the opening this past year of the Serenity Bar and Restaurant on Jalan By-Pass Ngurah Rai. The Bali outlet is the restaurant group’s third outlet - duplicating the success of two Serenity Restaurants operating in Singapore.

As in Singapore, the Bali branch emphasizes authentic Spanish cuisines with pre-dinner Tapas, signature Paellas, soups, Spanish-style sucking pig - Cochinillo Asado, Mediterranean salads, pork ribs, pork knuckle, fish cooked in a salt crust, grilled steaks and fruitful Sangrias - just part of an amazingly extensive menu.

On Bali, an Island world-famous for its suckling pig, Serenity’s approach to that dish ivolves a 3 to 4 kilogram piglet marinated with sherry wine, white wine, vinegar and herbs and slowly roasts it for more than 6 hours. The results are perfectly delectable and, due to the slow-cooking process, the whole suckling pig presented at tableside is tender to the extreme - demonstrated on occasion by cutting the pish with the edge of a plate.

Three types of Paella – the traditional rice dish of Spain – form a centerpiece at Serenity. Using special, short-grained rice that imparts a needed  al dente crunchiness - the three distinctive Paellas on offer at Serenity are:
  • Paella de Verduras – a vegetarian Paella with saffron, Portobello mushroom, zucchini, capsicums, asparagus, olive, onion and tomatoes
  • Paella Arroz Negro - Squid Ink Paella with calamari, squid ink, tiger prawns and capsicum
  • Paella Valenciana – a seafood Paella using saffron, chicken chorizo sausage, tiger prawns, squid, mussels and rice.
