Founded in 1938 in Selangor, Malaysia, the Hash House Harriers (HHH) is an international group of non-competitive runners who promote physical fitness among its members, run-offs of the week's hangover, developing mighty thirsts that are quenched with copious quantities of beer and efforts to persuade senior members that that are not as old as they feel.

In some circles, HHH is alternatively described as a "running club with a drinking problem" or a "drinking club with a running problem."

The Bali chapter of the  Hash House Harriers insist that they are a running club with a motto of Fun, Fitness and Friendshipand meet on a weekly basis at different areas of Bali where they run and drink,

With over 1,000 Hash clubs running weekly in nearly every major city in the world, anInterhash event is a 3-day social and running event held biannually. First held in Hong Kong in 1980, these events bring together hashers from around the globe, providing an opportunity to meet old friends and make new ones.

On March 13, 2014 , 50 Bali Hashers traveled to Hainan China to join the China Interhash 2014. While running in the "Middle Kingdom," the Bali Hashers made a successful bid, beating the island nation of Fiji for the right to host the Interhashevent in Bali in 2016.

The Bali Interhash 2016 is expected attract up to 5,0000 participants and accompanying family members from over 50 countries to run in 16 different run sites around the Ubud area and join a traditional "Red Dress Run" in which members, regardless of their sex, will don dresses to run in Kuta in order to raise funds for charity.

The Bali Interhash 2016 will be held at the end of May 2016, headquartered in Sanur. The firm date for the event has yet to be formally announced.

Vice Chairman of the event, Steve Charles, explained that the 2012 Interhash in Yogjakarta was opened by the Indonesian President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono and eight State Cabinet Ministers who also participated in a fun run around the Borobudur Temple. It is hoped that Indonesias President in 2016 will also attend the Bali event.
