The State News Agency Antara reports that the female head of the Klungkung Police Precinct, Ni Wayan Sri Yudatni Wirawati, is targeting for every police sector of the police to employ at least two female police officers.
Wirawati is the sole femal head of a regional police force in Bali.
“This target is to increase the quota of women serving in the police,” Wirawati said during an awards ceremony for 191 new graduate police cadets held in Bali.
By targeting more female police serving at each police precinct, Yudatni wants to see more career opportunities created for female officers.
Of the 191 candidates for the Singaraja Police Academy hailing from Klungkung, 80 are females.
Yudatni that the Indonesian police need to recruit 10,000 male officers and 7,000 females for the current year. “This large quota of new officers is a great opportunity for young people who want to join the police,” she said.
