The State News Agency Antara reports that special measures have been put in place at Bali’s Ngurah Rai Airport following the outbreak of MERS-Cov virus in the Middle East.
The airport’s managers – PT Angkasa Pura I is monitoring all direct flights from the Middle East, according to the company’s co-general manager, I Gusti Ngurah Ardita, in comments made to the press on Friday, May 9, 2014.
Thermal body scanners monitored by health officials are in operation in the international arrival terminal.
"Passengers or crew having higher than normal body temperature will be checked by the airport health workers," he explained.
Bali`s regional health service have confirmed that a man hospitalized with respiratory complaints after a Middle East trip and who subsequently died eventually tested negatively for MERS-Cov virus.
