Police for the Kuta precinct in Bali have taken 11 young women into custody who, according to investigators, have been working as strip tease dancers at the Lavender Night Club.
The head of the criminal investigation division at the Denpasar police station, Commissioner Benny Murjayanto, on Thursday, May 8, 2014, told Kompas.com, “They were taken into custody for lewd behavior under section 282 of the criminal code (KUHP 282) and all have undergone intensive interrogation.”
Police have named two of the girls as suspects who were arrested while dancing in the nude.
The raid on the Lavender Night Club took place in the early hours of Thursday, May 8, 2014, prompted by complaints received by the police form the public claiming the club regularly presented naked dancers.
After the raid, police confiscated receipts, order books, a guest book and Rp. 3.1 million (US$270) in cash.
Police interrogations of the 11 girls and the owner of the Club identified as “Leo” continued throughout the day on Thursday.
The dancers were also unable to present official ID cards as required under law.
Police told the press that additional suspects may soon be taken into custody.
