According to the Bali Central Statistic Bureau (BPS-Bali), unemployment in Bali stands at only 1.37% - the lowest level for any province in all of Indonesia.
Quoted by the State News Agency Antara, the chief of BPS-Bali, Panasunan Siregar, said, “this fact (low unemployment) can be seen from the large number of people working in Bali and the national employment survey (Sakernas) for February 2014.”
Siregar puts the total number of people in Bali of an age suitable for employment at 3.06 million, 2.41 million of this total actually hold jobs while the remaining 656,080 others are not employed but involved attending a place of education or in household activities.
In January the BPS-Bali counted 2.37 people employed a total equal to 98.63% of the available workforce. This results in an unemployment rate of 1.37%.
Unemployment rates in Bali have declined steadily throughout 2013 and through Q1 of 2014.
