NusaBali reports that police in Kuta have arrested two men, Heri Agus Sugiono (43) and Sahadi (34), who have reportedly been stealing credit cards from Bali visitors.
Police arrested the two after an Italian, Simone Zanachi Zani, (29) told police on Monday, June 16, 2014 that he had lost his credit card at the ATM Bank Commonwealth on Jalan Legian in Kuta at approximately 10:30 pm.
Zani suspected his credit card was taken by two men loitering near the ATM who closely shadowed him after using the machines. Fearing the men might rob him and his companion, he quickly departed the scene inadvertently leaving his ATM card behind in the machine.
Further investigation showed Rp. 3 million in charges at a Kuta area shop used to buy cigarettes and other items.
Police later managed to arrest the two men in Kuta at a place they were known to frequent. Police, however, are still looking for two known associates of Augus Sugiono and Sahadi who remain at large.
Police say the group of four men is known to steal wallets and handbags from foreign tourists with the intention of using the cards for illegal purchases. Hand Phones stolen form foreign tourists are also resold by the criminal group.
