A tragic road accident took place on Friday, July 4, 2014, on the Denpasar-Singaraja road in the village of Gitgit, near the popular tourist stop of the Gitgit Waterfall.
A truck traveling from the south and descending the steep mountain road ran off the road and rolled over in the parking lot of the Waterfall attraction, crushing a motorcycle before colliding with a roadside vegetable stall (warung).
As the result of the collision with the motorcycle and the roadside warung, two people died and four were injured, one seriously.
NusaBali report the truck involved in the crash was transporting Aqua water bottles when the accident occurred at 6:00 am. The driver has been identified as Made Suka Yadnya (47) of Sudaji, Buleleng hwo died from injuries sustained in the accident while being transported to the hospital\.
In the accident the out-of-control truck first struck a motorcycle driven by Kadek Sukarana (42) and carrying his son Komang Agus Ardiarta (4).
Sukarana died at the scene of the accident while his son was badly injured and is in intensive car at the Bulelelng General Hospital in Singaraja.
Three other people suffered light injuries in the accident that did not require hospitalization.
