Seas abrasion in the vicinity of Jineng Agung at Gilimanuk, northwest Bali not only represents a threat to shore side residents, but is also endangering the landing station for the submarine high voltage cable running between Java and Bali.
Those living in proximity of the PLN cable station report that a breakwater wall protecting the station is being devastated by high waves.
Large waves have been persisting over the past month causing concern among those living along the shore. At least one home standing in a line with the PLN landing station has been destroyed by waves with homeoners claiming waves often intrude into their living area.
Local residents are calling the government to install retaining walls and breakwaters to thwart the damaging waves.
