The average household income of a farming family in Bali, based on the 2013 provincial census, is equal to Rp. 35,61 million (US$3,096) or Rp. 2.97 million (US$258) per month.
Quoted by the State News Agency Antara, the head of the Center for Statistics (BPS), Panasunan Siregar, said, “That income is derived from both agricultural work and income from other sources.”
Income from farming sources equals 33.61% of total farm family income or Rp. 11.97 million per annum. The remaining shares of household income are derived from wages earned working on other owner’s parcels of land and other non-agricultural sources of employment.
Many farmers reported supplemental income from small-scale fish farming.
147,887 families in Bali live as rice farmers, a total comprising 67.65% of all farming families on the Island.
Agricultural activity remains the economic cornerstone of Bali with 218,591 farming families living in Bali.
