The Science Council of Asia - an association of scientists representing a number of Asian nations, including China, India, Korea, Indonesia, Japan, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam, held a three-day meeting in Bali May 13-16, 2003, to exchange papers and ideas on issues covering wide areas of science and technology.
Themes for this year's meeting focused on women and gender issues, policies governing science and technology, and biotechnological development.
According to a report in the English-language Jakarta Post, the Bali conference was jointly sponsored by the Indonesian office of the State Minister for Research and Technology and the Indonesian Science Institute (LIPI).
