Following an extended illness, Tjokorda Gde Raka Siddartha Guy Sukawati, better known as Guy Sukawati, died on Wednesday, May 21, 2003, at the MMC Hospital in Jakarta.
Born 57 years ago, Guy Sukawati had a long and distinguished career with Garuda Indonesia, from 1967-1997 serving in a number of key management roles for the airline in France, The Netherlands, the U.S.A., and at head office in Jakarta.
Guy was a graduate of McGill University in Canada and was fluent in at least four languages. In recent years he had retired from Garuda and returned to his native Bali where he had established his own business.
A descendent of one of Bali's royal households, his body is lying in state at the Puri Kantor in Ubud until May 31.. A traditional Siraman cleansing ceremony will take place at the Palace on Friday, May 30th at 3 p.m..
On the following day, Saturday, May 31, a Pelebonan cremation departing from the Puri Kantor at 1 p.m. will be held.
