Garuda Indonesian Airlines (GA) and Malaysian Airline Systems (MAS) have formally agreed to share codes on services operated by the two airlines to Australia and Europe.
Under the terms of the cooperation agreement between the two Southeast Asian carriers scheduled to take effect on July 1, 2003, GA and MAS will code share on MAS flights between Kuala Lumpur to London and Frankfurt and on GA flights between Denpasar to Darwin, Australia.
The next phase of the cooperation between the two airlines is expected to take the form of block seat arrangements on MAS flights from Kuala Lumpur to Rome and Amsterdam.
MAS have also announced plans to open new routes in Indonesia, connecting Kuala Lumpur to Manado (North Sulawesi) and Balikpapan (Kalimantan) beginning in July/August 2003.
