A group of concerned small business owners in Kuta have joined forces to assist in the general recovery of Bali, support community development projects, and promote tourism and trade for its members. The Kuta Small Business Association (KSBA) is a non-profit and non-governmental organization in which all activities and operational costs for the groups various activities are secured through fund raising events or membership dues collected from members.
Kuta Quality Assurance Program
The KSBA Quality Assurance Program aims to improve business to Kuta by instilling good practices among business people operating there. To this end, the KSBA has established a list of ethics and business standards for its members stipulating fair representation of goods and services; pricing reflecting the value of goods and services; clean and hygienic premises; courteous and conscientious service by all employees; honesty in financial and currency exchange services; improvement of the business environment by encouraging off-street parking and orderly appearances for local business; good citizenship through active involvement in community improvement projects; and promotion of Kuta as a business and tourism destination.
Kuta Carnival of Life
The KSBA is planning an impressive month-long carnival from September 12, 2003, culminating in a commemoration for the victims of last October's terrorist attack on October 12th. Current plans are for the Carnival of Life to include fashion shows, surf competitions, competitive sports, food festivals, traditional dance and theatre, art exhibitions, sand sculpture contests, live musical entertainment, sky diving and extreme toys exhibitions, a grand parade, and Beach Olympics.
