In town on Wednesday, July 23, 2003, to open the 5th Asia-Europe Foreign Ministers Meeting (ASEM) in Nusa Dua, President Megawati Soekarnoputri decided to extend her stay through the weekend, taking a few days of well-deserved rest in Bali.
Traveling with her husband Taufik Kiemas and their daughter Puan Maharani, the Presidential family eschewed a stay at the Presidential Palace in Tampaksiring, built by Ibu Mega's late Father, choosing instead to stay in a private villa in Jimbaran.
The Presidential entourage returned to Jakarta on Monday, July 28, 2003.
