In a recent radio interview, Australian Prime Minister John Howard has indicated that he plans to travel to Bali to attend commemorative ceremonies on October 12, 2003, the 1st anniversary of the bombing of a Bali nightspot that claimed more than 200 lives.
The radio report indicated that the Government would also pay the cost of 1,500 survivors of the blasts and the families of victims, should they wish to join the Prime Minister.
Quoted in the international wire services, Prime Minister Howard said, "I would expect there to be a very significant outpouring of public emotion on the occasion and a proper dignified observance is entirely appropriate."
