The Ministers of Tourism from all ASEAN countries together with Japan, Korea and China represented at the Special Meeting on the Revitalization of ASEAN held in Beijing on August 9, 2003, called on the international community to avoid taking the discriminative steps of issuing travel bans and travel warnings against counties who suffer terrorist attacks.
Underlining that travel bans and travel warnings have the consequence of supporting the aims and goals of the terrorists, the countries represented at the meeting were also unanimous in their condemnation of terror as inhumane acts violating the principles laid down by all the world's great religions.
At the same meeting the representatives of the 13 countries in attendance went on record in supporting the efforts of Indonesia to eliminate terrorism.
