Bali's seminal vineyard and winery Hatten Wines earned a Bronze Medal at the London Wine & Spirit Competition held in London in May 2003. Hatten's won the honor with their semi-sweet Muscat wine, now available in the United Kingdom and Europe as well as Bali.

A Bali First

The International Wine & Spirit Competition has been held annually since 1969 and is renowned for its rigorous judging standards. Libations entered in the competition must undergo both technical analysis and blind tasting methods. Each tasting category is judged by a panel of experts.

Alexandria

A lovely white wine, Alexandria is made from the Belgia grapes grown in Hatten Wines' own vineyards. The grapes, ripe and sugar-filled, are processed to bring the very fruity and perfumed grape flavor to its delightful taste.

This medium-sweet white wine is very aromatic with grapey characters and lovely floral perfumes. The fruity palate is well balanced between sweetness and acid, leaving a refreshing aftertaste. Alexandria takes its name from the Muscat of Alexandria grape variety, a close cousin of the Belgia grapes.

Growing Fame

Having achieved the distinction of being only one of two wineries to win a medal on its first application to the competition, Hatten's are hoping to add more medals to their trophy cabinet in the future. Winemaker Vincent Desplat and owner, IB Rai Budarsa recently achieved finalist status with their Rosé at a Portuguese Competition held in May of this year, competing against established Portuguese and Spanish Rosés.
