Joining the month-long Kuta Karnival from September 11 – October 12, 2003, a group of Balinese percussion masters will be among the many musical groups scheduled to appear.
Zurya Drum Collaboration is a group of Balinese percussion masters of the traditional kendang drum. The Group made its debut in August and has performed at some of Bali's top entertainment venues as well as being featured at Nusa Dua Festival. Recently, they have incorporated techno DJs and added dance to the performances.
Zurya is slated for several performances during the Kuta Karnival, including the September 20-21 Food Festival and on October 4 on the beachside stage.
Celebrating life and peace, the festival commemorates the New York World Trade Center terrorist tragedy in 2001 and Bali's bomb explosions 13 months later. Opening with a Peace Ceremony, events will wrap with a festive street parade October 11, concluding with a spiritual, candlelight remembrance ceremony on October 12.
