An Air Paradise International (API) flight traveling from Sydney to Melbourne on Monday, September 15, 2003, made an emergency landing at Kingsford Smith airport at approximately 10:05 a.m., local time.
When cockpit indicator lights showed a malfunctioning hydraulic system the Captain of the Airbus A-300 with 178 passengers aboard followed emergency procedures and headed back to Sydney, the nearest major airport.
The plane landed safely without incident a half hour after the problem was initially discovered.
Following a thorough inspection by maintenance engineers the aircraft was certified air worthy and allowed to resume its flight to Bali.
