President Megawati Soekarnoputri arrived by special presidential jet on Friday, October 3, 2003, for an extended stay of 8 days in Bali.
After touchdown on Friday, the President immediately conducted physical inspections of the various venues to be used in connection the 9th Association of Southeast Asian Nations Summit from October 7-9.
Prior to the Summit at which 14 individual heads of state are slated to participate, President Megawati presided at the official opening of the ASEAN Business and Investment Summit on Sunday, October 5 at the Bali Hilton International.
Following her official duties, President Megawati is expected to spend a brief holiday with her family and grandchildren in Bali before returning to Jakarta on October 11.
