The Provincial House of Representatives for Bali (DPRD-Bali) is asking that a critical review of the Sabargita Public Bus System be undertaken. Lawmakers are lamenting that the bus system, operated with buses provided by the Central Government, continue to lose money and costs the province Rp. 18 billion each year in subsidies.
I Ketut Yama Tenaya, a member of Commission I of the DPRD-Bali, told a House hearing on Monday, April 10, 2017, that the bus service continues to be a waste of public funds due to the low number of passengers carried.
Quoted in NusaBali, Tenaya said, “What I see is empty seats. We are just throwing away our money.” Tenaya said many times the Trans Sabargita buses leave for Nusa Dua without a single passenger.
