Total tourism arrivals via all of Indonesia's thirteen international gateways for the first ten months of 2003 reached only 3.02 million, a drop of 15.4 percent when compared to the same period just one year earlier.
With only two months left in the year, it is increasingly apparent that tourism will be hard pressed to achieve the 5.2 million tourists targeted by the Nation's tourism authorities for the entire year. Based on past performance, totals for 2003 are now likely to fall somewhat short of the 4 million mark, a more than 20% gap below the targeted arrivals for the year.
