The Indonesian Tourism Development Corporation (ITDC) continues to expand its interests in Bali and West Nusa Tenggara. In addition to its world-renowned Nusa Dua Complex located on the southernmost region of Bali, ITDC is now developing the Mandalika Complex in South Lombok and eyeing another possible development in North Bali.

The proposed North Bali project for 2018 will occupy 200-hectares of private land at an estimated cost of Rp. 2 trillion.
Quoted in, the CEO of ITDC, Abdulbar M. Mansoer, said the unbalanced development of the Balinese tourism economy that focuses mainly on South Bali has prompted the ITDC to explore opportunities on the Island’s North Shore.
Mansoer said he was not yet able to publicly identify the location of the development site except to say it is in the Gerokgak district of the Regency of Buleleng. Adding: “North Bali is very good. But I am not yet able to identify the place because it is still under negotiation.”
The ITDC CEO said the proposed project is located near the beach opposite Menjangan Island and would take five years to construct. The planned project is for a complex of hotels and supporting facilities but will be somewhat smaller than the development at Nusa Dua.
“Earlier there were two locations, but this has been narrowed down to one option. We are in agreement. Construction will begin early next year,” Mansoer explained.
To support the planned ITDC development in North Bali, Mansoer hopes that the Government of Bali will accelerate the development of infrastructure in North Bali to support the proposed investment. “We are still waiting for the support of an airport (in North Bali) to be built,” he said.
