6 Villas at the Kinaara Resort and Spa in Pemuteran, North Bali were destroyed by fire on Wednesday, November 1, 2017.

The nighttime fire caused no injuries as guests were evacuated from the villas to safety.

NusaBali said a security guard at the villa who saw smoke pouring out of a villa #4 at 9:15 pm discovered the fire.

Assisted by friends, the guard tried unsuccessfully to bring the fire under control with fire extinguishers. The blaze quickly spread to adjoining units constructed of wood and bamboo with thatched roofs.

The fire destroyed 6 villas each measuring 4 x 7 meters.

The Kinaara Resort and Spa is comprised of a large number of villas and other building surrounding a central swimming pool. The villas destroyed by the fire were in a single block at the Resort,

All six villas were rented out at the time of the fire by guests from France, Austria, Holland, and Belgium. All the guests – who were out to dinner when the fire occurred, were relocated to the nearby Matahari Hotel and Hotel Adi Asri.

It took nearly two hours for the fire to be brought under control with firefighters arriving 40 minutes after being called to the scene. 4 fire trucks were called, including at least one truck that traveled 50 kilometers from Singaraja.

Fire officials and police a short circuit may have caused the blaze. Officials say the Kinaara Resort and Spa is owned by Irwan Baramuli - a businessman from Manado, North Sulawesi.

Preliminary estimates of the loss caused by the fire at Rp. 2 billion.
