Police suspect murder in the death of a Dutch expatriate found dead in his rented home in the Puri Gading Housing Estate in Jimbaran, South Kuta on Friday evening, November 3, 2017.

Robert Gilhooad (63) was found naked in a pool of blood on the floor of a bathroom. The advanced state of decomposition of the body leads police to conclude the man may have been dead for a number of days. There was blood splattered at the scene and blood-covered blunt pieces of steel were found near the body suggesting the man was murdered. say a woman living at Puri Gading alerted neighbors and police when she detected a strong odor emanating from the house while taking her dog for a walk.

Police rushed to the house and discovered the Dutchman’s dead body. reports Police also found a blood covered machete and pieces of steel on a bed together with a bloody pillow. The body was sent at 2:30 am on Saturday morning to the morgue at the Sanglah General Hospital for forensic examination.

Police continue to investigate the death.

This is the third homicide in the Puri Gading Housing Complex in two months following the murder of an elderly Japanese couple in their home on September 4, 2017
