Adding to the loss, are cancellations of domestic tourist trips caused by the airport’s closure calculated at 44,000 travelers spending Rp. 520,000 per day for an average 2 days.
“The loss is around Rp. 11.5 billion from the cancellation of bookings for 11,013 rooms in 44 hotels and villas,” explained Sutopo.
Adding further to the losses sustained by Bali resulting from the volcano was the last minute shifting of the Bali Democracy Forum from Nusa Dua in Bali to Banten in West Java on December 7-8, 2017. The forum saw 29 delegations from 16 countries cancel out of Bali
During the 2.5-day closure of the Bali Ngurah Rai Airport 56 domestic and international flights to and from Bali were cancelled.
