Bali and Banyuwangi just got closer with the Srikandi fleet of fast boats commencement of operations for a daily service connecting Bali and Banyuwangi on December 30, 2017.

The boat departs Bali from the Kedonganan Piers in Jimbaran and lands at the Pantai Boom Pier in Banyuwangi 2-hours later.

The same journey by road and ferry between Gilimanuk and Ketapang in East Java would require a traveling time of 5-6 hours.

In welcoming the new service, the Regent of Banyuwangi, Abdullah Anas, welcomed the new boat transfer connecting Bali and Banyuwangi as certain to become a popular alternative means of travel between the two points and open Banyuwangi to new tourist visitors.

Quoted by Bali-tribun.com, Anas said: “Almost 5 million foreign tourists come to Bali every year, and we (Banyuwangi) must attract a portion of that number to Banyuwangi. This fast boar will make it easier to market Banyuwangi to tourists visiting Bali and Lombok.”

Mulyono Sugito, a Director of Marina Srikandi who operates the fast boats, explained that his company would initially operate one trip per day each way. The ship will depart Banyuwangi at 9:00 am and the return voyage departs Bali at 1:00 pm.

As the market develops, two trips will eventually be operated each day between the two ports.

The ship operating the route carries 70 passengers and has a length of 21.84 meters and a breadth of 6.3 meters. The ship, driven by five Suzuki 250 horsepower outboard engines travels at a speed of 40 knots.

The fare for the 2-hour one-way trip is Rp. 375,000.
