Police from the South Kuta Precinct took the three Chinese tourists into custody at the Coco Mart on Jalan Bypass Ngurah Rai in Jimbaran on Monday, February 26, 2018 at 1:45 am.

NusaBali report that the three Chinese were arrested by police when they brutally attacked a freelance tourist driver, I Nyoman Gede Musiasa, sending the man to the intensive care unit at a local hospital.

Arrested by the police were Cheng Gong (26), Hao Peng Ye (31), and Zhao Ning Ning (34) who, prior to their arrest, were guests at The Westin Nusa Dua, Bali.

The three men brutally assaulted the Balinese driver in the Coco Mart parking lot at 1:30 am. Local citizens intervened and held the three men until police arrived a short time later.

Based on police investigations and interviews, Nyoman Gede Mudiasa was driving two Chinese women, Li Yi Dong and Jua Jing Jing, who had requested the driver to stop at the supermarket. Mudiasa remained in his vehicle while his passengers entered the store.

A short time later, another vehicle brought four Chinese men to the supermarket. One of the men, Cheng Gong, entered the shop and proceeded to harass the two Chinese women who repostedly refused the man's druken advances. The situation escalated to the point that the women pointedly asked Cheng Gong to please leave them alone.

The Balinese driver serving the two women noticed the commotion inside the shop and tried to provide assistance to the women.

Cheng Gong, joined by Hao Peny Ye and Zhau Ning Ning, beat the driver using their fists and bricks inflicting significant wounds on the Balinese man's head and face in the process.
Local residents and other customers witnessed the attack, intervened to stop the attack, and summoned the police - detaining the attackers until police arrived on the scene.

Police brought the injured driver to a nearby hospital and took the three men into custody. One policeman said: “They were all drunk. Every time they spoke the smell of alcohol came from their mouths. Based on their driver’s report the men had just left a nightspot."

Police confirmed the three men have been charged with criminal assault under a section of the law that provides for a maximum sentence of 7 years in prison.

The three men were originally scheduled to fly back to China on Wednesday, February 28, 2018, a trip has now been indefinitely postponed until they have their day in court in Bali.
