New Hires at the Hyatt

Management Team Put in Place to Open Hyatt Regency in Sanur, Bali

Set to open in the fourth quarter of 2018, Hyatt Regency Bali on Sanur Beach is organizing its leadership committee appointed to open the 5-star property that will open on the site of the former Bali Hyatt.

The committee includes Executive Assistant Manager – Rooms Mohammed Kerzazi, Director of Food and Beverage Stijn van Leeuwen and Executive Chef Nadine Waechter-Moreno.

Executive Assistant Manager - Rooms Mohammed Kerzazi

Kerzazi is a highly experienced executive assistant manager in rooms divisions with a career spanning over 23 years in international Hyatt properties. Born and raised in Casablanca, Morocco, Kerzazi’s first hospitality industry job was working as a Front Office Clerk at Hyatt Regency Grand Cypress in 1995. He then rose to various positions with the rooms’ division category within Hyatt hotels in the USA, Canada, Vietnam, and Saudi Arabia before his appointment to the new Hyatt Regency in Bali.

Hyatt Regency Bali will be the seventh hotel that Kerzazi co-opens. Previously he played a vital role in the opening of two city hotels, two resorts and the first Andaz property in the USA.

Kerzazi says he is honored to be part of the pre-opening team of the Hyatt in Sanur. Adding: 'I am very fortunate that through my job I am exposed to other great cultures – this is exactly the essence of hospitality industry.”

A fan of classic cars, Kerzazi spends his down time connecting to his siblings in different parts of the world.

Director of Food and Beverage Stijn van Leeuwen

Originally from the Netherlands, Stijn van Leeuwen comes to Bali fresh after opening the Park Hyatt Bangkok.

In his new role, he will oversee the hotel’s outlets and event spaces: Omang Omang, an all-day dining venue; Pizzaria, the beachfront Italian restaurant; Piano Lounge, a lobby bar with live entertainment; and Hyatt’s signature Residence meeting spaces, including a 500-square meter ballroom.

Stijn’s journey with Hyatt has brought him to many destinations around the world, from Johannesburg, Shenzhen, Manila, Bangkok and now Bali. “My absolute favorite part of the job is putting smiles on our guest’s faces, something I look forward to achieve in Bali,” says Stijn.

In his spare time, Stijn enjoys riding motorbikes, swimming and exploring hidden culinary gems, and eating and drinking out in renowned restaurants and bars throughout the world.

Executive Chef Nadine Waechter-Moreno

A native of Lucerne, Switzerland, Chef Waechter-Moreno started her journey with Hyatt at Park Hyatt Tokyo, as Chef de Cuisine at New York Grill from 2008 to 2010, before rising to Executive Chef in the same hotel from 2010 to 2013.

Chef Waechter-Moreno played a vital role in the pre-opening of Grand Hyatt Playa del Carmen in Mexico, where she worked as Executive Chef overseeing three outlets. A foodie at heart, Chef Waechter-Moreno reveals that the reason she returns to Asia is because of the food. “I love Asian cuisine’s variety, flavor, and the fact that each region has a specialty dish. I am excited to learn and dig into it with my future colleagues and chefs.”

In her spare time, Chef Waechter-Moreno likes to try different restaurants. “Bali's food scene is amazing, and I cannot wait to experience the different eateries around the island,” says the chef.

The new team members of the Hyatt Regency in Sanur will report to General Manager of Hyatt Regency Bali Zulki Othman.

Fellow leadership committee members include Director of Sales and Marketing Ronald Nomura, Director of Human Resources Ira Puspitasari and Director of Finance Ida Bagus Arnaya – all veteran members of Hyatt Hotels in Bali.
