Bali Tourism Board (BTB) have announced the launch of a major video production as part of an overall campaign to promote the Island's tourism industry.
The film, to be directed by award-winning director Ian Mackenzie, represents the first major promotional film on Bali made in over a decade. Produced and facilitated by Canada's Jane Walters and Britain's Lucien Thynne, the project seeks to involve the widest possible range of stakeholders in Bali's tourism industry through the provision of various sponsorship packages.
Walters and Thynne, respectively from Seri Productions and PKA Productions, represent the two Bali-based production houses heading the project. Walters recently achieved international fame through her documentary on the Bali bombing which won "Best Documentary" at the New York Independent International Film Festival. Thynne brings 14 years of feature film and television production experience to the project.
Darin Starkson, the newly appointed Director of Public Relations at BTB, said that the film "will bring the natural beauty and cultural splendor of Bali to life for a new generation of tourists."
Preliminary agreements or expressions of interests are in hand from a number of in-flight entertainment channels, television networks and documentary channels in exhibiting the finished film on Bali.
Location surveys are already underway across Bali with shooting scheduled to begin in September on the film with a projected budget of US$ 110,000. Distribution of "Bali Beyond Expectations" is expected to commence in October 2004.
Sponsorship opportunities are still available for interested businesses by contacting Mr. Lucien Thynne of PKA Productions.
