A performer who's been wowing audiences for more than 3 decades, Australian pop legend Daryl Braithwaite will make a special two-night appearance at Hard Rock Hotel's CenterStage on August 26 and 27, 2004.
Daryl first shot to fame in the late 1960's as the lead singer for the legendary band Sherbert. During the 1970's Sherbert released an unprecedented 15 albums and 30 singles, including such hits as Child's Play, Slipstream, Cassandra, Life, Summer Love, and Howzat. The success of Howzat on the U.S. Billboard Charts ushered on a brief foray to the States where marketing gurus changed the group's name to Highway.
Back home in Australia in 1980, the group and Daryl returned to their roots performing as The Sherbs and releasing 3 albums in the early 1980's.
Nearly a decade of absence from the music scene followed before Daryl made a triumphant comeback to music with his carefully crafted album Edge in 1989, which went Platinum and became the largest selling album in Sony Music Australia's history. That album contained single hits such as Let Me Be, Sugar Train, As Days Go By, All I Do and One Summer.
Other hit albums followed in the 1990's with Rise being released in 1990 containing the number one single The Horses - a song voted Song of the Year at that year's Australian Music Awards. Another album, Taste the Salt followed and like its predecessors quickly went Platinum.
