Indonesian arrival statistics for the first six months of 2001 totalled 2,083,682 - a 6.95% improvement over the same period the year before.
Arrivals at Bali's Ngurah Rai International airport kept apace, showing a 7% increase from the first six months of last year at 710,397.
Despite a downturn in June arrivals for for the city of Jakarta, perhaps due to political tensions in the Capital, total arrials for Jakarta for the first half of the year tallied an impressive 13.3% increase, recording 522,154 arrivals.
Although July figures have yet to be released, the apparent upward trend in Bali arrivals continues with hotels and resorts reporting a robust July followed by an August in which many hotels are refusing bookings on selected dates due to a lack of space.
