The 138-room Bali Garden Hotel is determined to play a major role in efforts to upgrade and gentrify Bali's South Kuta Sunset Strip. In addition to opening a luxurious spa facility the hotel has also teamed up with two of Bali's most popular independent restaurant companies to enhance services to their guests.
The hotel's new, "Zen-style spa" is located on the first floor. "Tari" is Indonesian for "dance." Accordingly, spa visitors are welcomed to the health center/spa facility by the stunning profile of a Balinese dancer illuminated with holographic lighting.
Tari Spa offers a range of professionally delivered, relaxation therapies and beauty treatments for men, women and couples. Single and double treatment rooms feature teakwood floors, offset by soothing grey and blue decorative finishes. Bathrooms have solid stone sinks, marble table surfaces, stone and granite floors, and private plunge baths - all presented in minimalist settings.
Treatments include massage, body masks and scrubs, facials, cream baths, manicures and pedicures, starting from Rp 95,000 per treatment (approximately US$ 9.70). Discounts are also available for treatment packages during designated morning and evening hours.
Kafe Batan Waru
Long a favourite among diners in Bali's art community of Ubud, Kafe Batan Waru has opened a branch at the Bali Garden Hotel. Accessible from street-side as a stand along restaurant, the Kafe offers traditional al fresco dining allowing guests the option of soaking up Kuta street culture or enjoying their meal in their room.
Named Bali's Best Indonesian Restaurant for two consecutive years by Best Bets Bali, specialties include fish roasted in banana leaves, mountain fern tips with coconut and spices, vegetarian curry, Balinese smoked duck and a fisherman's dinner. BBQ is a Saturday night favourite with Chilli Crab Night a weekly fixture on Sundays.
Riyoshi Japanese Restaurant and Bar
Also now available on the Hotel's second level, is the Riyoshi Japanese Restaurant and Bar.
Part of a chain of five island locations, the restaurant offers several styles of Japanese cooking: sashimi, tempura, sushi, mochi, teppanyaki, robatayaki and noodles. Known for their very affordable prices and menu consistency, Riyoshi also offers room serviceto guests of the hotel.
More Improvements on the Way
The new spa and restaurant outlets are part of a multi-faceted facelift of the conveniently located beachside/street side resort in South Kuta. Managers of the Hotel also report that a street-side access shopping arcade will soon open, estimated to come on line in August 2005.
