The organizers of the Quest for Global Healing Conference, held for the first time last year in Bali in 2003, are now focusing their 2006 gathering on the theme of "Inspiring Actions for World Renewal."

According to the Conference organizers, "now, more than ever, the conference must stay in Ubud, Bali, to support the Balinese and encourage people to be strong and committed to Bali as a primary stakeholder in balance, harmony and peace in the world." This second conference is definitely going ahead seeking to inspire the more than 600 expected participants from more than 20 countries to continue making a difference.

Quest for Global Healing, May 3-8, 2006, Ubud, Bali, Indonesia.

Distinguished keynote speakers, including Archbishop Desmond Tutu - who also serves as honorary chairman for the conference, Walter Cronkite, Fatima Gailani, Barry Lopez, and numerous others will be on hand to act as resources that inspire and support the participants.

A special "Global Youth in Action" program is also being offered to youth ages 17-30, who will be attending from around the world. Gathering in Bali for three days before the main conference, the young participants will explore the questions: "What is the world we will inherit?" and "What are we prepared to do about it?" Youth participants will be house at Balinese homestays, intended to help generate cross-cultural and intergenerational experiences.

During the conference, sessions will also focus on "women on the frontlines" addressing examples of women making a difference in areas such as women's rights, child slavery and domestic violence. Plans are underway with the support of sponsore to host the many of the 23 outstanding women of Indonesia who were nominated as part of the 1,000 Women of Peace for the Nobel Peace Prize.

A third area of special interest during the conference will be the role of money and economics in stimulating sustainable development during the 21st century. Jeffrey Sachs, author of the bestselling ”The End of Poverty”, will either be attending the conference in person or join the gathering via teleconference link, seeking delegates' support for the United Nations Millennium Goals.
