Photos from MarediModa Swimwear Exhibition in Nusa Dua Prove that Lovely Ladies in Beautiful Swimsuits are Alive and Well on Bali’s Beaches.

From March 14-16, 2006, Bali played host to the first Asia-based exhibition of high-profile producers from the European beachwear industry - comprising spinners, weavers, and converters of accessory producers.
Organized by the
MarediModa Association - the exhibition aimed to create networking opportunities between European beachwear and beachwear fabric manufacturers and customers in the Far East and Asia Pacific region.
Held at the
Bali International Convention Center (BICC) in Nusa Dua, the three-day event complements similar exhibitions organized by
MarediModa in Cannes and Munich.
Gala Dinner and Beach Fashion ShootIn addition to the exhibition comprised of
MarediModa Association members promoting quality swimwear, fabrics, spinners, weavers, and converters of accessory producers, the Bali event also included a gala dinner featuring a beachwear fashion competition among Asia and Australia up and coming student designers held on the evening of March 15th.
Dubbed the
Mittelmoda Fashion Award the event provided finalists - young design students from Japan, Singapore, India, Australia, China and Indonesia – an all expense paid trip to Bali where they were able to meet leaders in the beachwear fashion industry and present their creations in a professionally produced fashion showcase. Nominated by the top design schools in the region, 7 finalists presented 36 individual swimsuits to a jury of fashion experts paraded down a catwalk by some of Bali's most stunning models.
Winning the competition and sharing the US$1,000 prize check were the Indian design team of Naresh Kukreja and Asha Baxi.
Closing the evening’s festivities at
The Westin Resort was a fashion parade of more than 50 the latest beachwear designs produced by member companies of
MarediModa Association.MarediModa Association Established in 1988 within the Italian Silk Association,
The MarediModa Association has become a fixed point of reference for manufacturers of beachwear, who consider the quality of the fabrics and the precision of the service as fundamental to their continuing success. The Group consists of around twenty of the most important companies in the sector.
Through its regular exhibitions in Cannes and Munich over the past 5 years, and its most recent event in Bali,
MarediModais known to be the most prestigious show of its kind, dedicated to the swimwear fabric and accessory industry.
As a special bonus to the numerous members of the local and international press attending the Bali exhibition and in order to help launch the promising careers of the
Mittlemoda design finalists, a special sunrise fashion shoot was held on the beach at
The Westin on Thursday, March 16th.
