In response to the growing call to develop community and culture based tourism, Nirmala Journey Ltd. and Bali Discovery Tours have jointly launched a series of two distinctive programs to be promoted as Nirmala Journeys of Discovery.

Bali Life & Culture

A six-day experience offering visitors to Bali a view into the deeper aspects of Bali's Art's and Culture by focusing on local rituals and the ancient healing traditions. Visitors will be taken on visits to remote temples to experience ceremonies seldom encountered by the average visitor to the island. Included will be sessions with meditation masters and High Priests, as well as healers - both ancient and modern. Celebrated authors, artists, and cultural experts will guide participants on a journey of discovery, providing opportunities to meet living heirs of Balinese royalty in their palaces, many distinguished artists and spiritual figures in their own right.

Cost is US$ 1,190 per person (on a twin-share basis), covering all local transportation, tours, lectures, accommodation and most meals. A number of departures are offered commencing in November 2001 and throughout 2002.

Bali Meditation & Healing Retreat

A seven-day meditation and healing retreat in Bali's serene countryside in the company of Bapak Merta Ada, an internationally revered meditation master. For many years a Buddhist monk, Merta Ada has brought the practice of meditation into the daily life of many people from around the world, enabling them to heal themselves of chronic disease, stress and other problems. Merta Ada's healing work is based upon Buddhist meditation techniques in combination with his study of ancient Balinese healing texts and is both unique and entirely appropriate for people of any spiritual or cultural background.

Cost is US$ 1,300 per person (on a twin-share basis), covering all local transportation, tours, lectures, accommodation and most meals. A number of departures are offered commencing in November 2001 and throughout 2002.

Nirmala Journeys Ltd. has been organizing sacred journeys to Bali and to the Elders of Australian tribal territories since 1996. Bali Discovery Tours is a full-service destination management company based in Bali and the owners of Bali Update.

In commenting on the new programs, Mr. Adrian Batten,a director and co-founder of Nirmala Journeys said, "We wanted to give visitors a real and meaningful experience of Bali's spiritual and cultural life without debasing the very thing people have come to see. We believe we have been able to do this by designing these journeys in the closest consultation with Balinese artists and spiritual figures themselves. Many of whom participants will get to meet."

Overseas travel affiliates are being actively sought to help publicize these unique programs globally. Interested parties should contact nirmala@balidiscovery.com
