Declared an Olympic sport in 1994 and first presented at the Atlanta games of 1996, two-player beach volleyball is also a professional sport capable of substantial prize purses and attracting large crows who come to watch the sporting action.
Bali's fabled Kuta Beach will play host to the Asian Two-Player Beach Volleyball Tournament on May 4-7, 2006 where top Asian teams will vie for total cash prizes of US$20,000.
The competition, sanctioned by the Asian Volleyball Confederation (AVC), will see teams from Australia, China, Malaysia, Thailand, Sri Lanka, the Philippines and Vietnam competing against each other in a Balinese beach-side setting of surf and sun.
