(10/21/2001)

On Thursday, October 18th, the Bali Dynasty Resort, in South Kuta, invited over 125 members of the local travel industry to inaugurate their new meeting, incentive, conference and exhibition facility - managing at the same time to demonstrate to the local travel trade their very creative way with a themed event.

Guests arrived at 6.30 p.m. for cocktails and canapés in the Resort's existing Kerta Gosa Ballroom. Inside, a stunning re-creation of Bourbon Street awaited, with two-story New Orleans' store fronts lining both sides of the room and waiters and waitresses dressed in Mardi Gras finery. After some 45 minutes of relaxed conviviality to the recorded strains of Satchmo, a brass band comprised of over 35 members of Bali's Udayana University Marching Band, accompanied by a group of umbrella-toting street dancers, poured forth from a side street of the Big Easy to lead the guests on a swinging street parade out of the room, past the Resort's entrance and the amazed stares of its many guests, and culminating at the entrance to the brand-new Nusa Penida conference facility.

To mark the opening of the Nusa Penida Room, the group of top producing agents and airline staff were feted to a 4 course international dinner accompanied by the live Jazz stylings of Bali's very own recording artist, Ms. Marilyn Rahayu. The Resort's new facility can seat some 200 diners in a room that can be divided into three separate, soundproofed syndicate rooms.

Mr. Robert Kelsall, General Manager of the Resort, welcomed the guests in a short speech. Later, following dessert, Ms. Julie Ong, Director of Marketing, introduced members of the management team and distributed a series of door prizes, shortly before the umbrella bearing street dancers reappeared to distribute souvenir gift umbrellas to all the guests.

The new conference facility is located atop another new feature of the Bali Dynasty Resort, an innovative departure lounge offering light refreshment, showers and spa services to guests waiting for late flight departures from Bali.

Bali Discovery Tours assisted the Bali Dynasty Resort in managing the entertainment elements for this MICE event.
