Despite the downward spiral of the value of the U.S. Dollar, it appears that Bali's hoteliers are planning to continue publish their tariffs and contracts in that currency. The Executive Director of the Bali Hotel Association (BHA), Djinaldi Gosana, told the Bali Post: "There's no policy (on changing currency) in connection with this concern. Theirs is no plan to move to the Euro. (But) In principle we accept every currency."
Among the more than 80 starred hotels that belong to the BHA, most publish their tariffs and room contracts in U.S. Dollars but, due to local banking regulations, accept payment in Indonesian Rupiahs at the prevailing exchange rate when guests check out of their hotels.
Ginaldi told Bali Post said that in the face of the declining U.S. dollar the BHA members perhaps need to obtain information from other international hoteliers and discuss exchange value issues among its members.
