Dead Serious About Safety

Indonesia's Mandala Airlines Adopts an Open Door Policy To Partners Concerned with Safe Aviation.

Bali News: Dead Serious About Safety

(10/20/2008)

Against the backdrop of EU wanrning on aviation safety in Indonesia, Indonesian carrier Mandala has committed itself to taking a lead role in demonstrating that national carriers can offer the highest standards of safety practice. To this end, Mandala has now completed the rigorous IOSA (International Operational Safety Audit) conducted through the International Air Transport Association (IATA) as well as audits from Airbus Industries, Boeing and a number of oil and gas companies that have nominated the airlines as their "preferred supplier."

Warwick Brady, Mandala's CEO, says that his company has an open-door policy inviting any interested party to audit their safety standards and procedures.

In February Mandala signed an agreement with the French Oil Company Total E & P Indonesie to provide air travel to Total's employees. This agreement comes following an audit by Total E & P Indonesie conducted in Jakarta and including a visit to Singapore Airlines Engineering Company (SIAEC) in Singapore who provide aircraft maintenance for the Indonesian carrier.

"The cooperation with Total E & P Indonesie is very important for Mandala and we are delighted to be an approved airline of Total E & P Indonesie. Mandala will provide premium services to the employees of Total E & P Indonesie by offering 'Mandala Priority’ which meets the needs of passengers requiring not only premium services but also network frequencies and excellent connectivity across key business destinations in Indonesia," Brady stated.

The benefits offered by Mandala Priority include complimentary access to approved airport lounges across Indonesia, priority seat selection, complimentary food and beverages from Mandala's on board café.

"Mandala will continue its expansion with more Airbus aircraft. We took delivery of more Airbus A319s in September and will welcome another Airbus A320 at the beginning of November to replace older Boeing B737-400s. In January 2009, Mandala will operate one single aircraft type, which being the Airbus, constituting the youngest aircraft fleet in the region," Brady further explained.

Brady went on to say that: "Mandala is Indonesia’s no. 1 airline providing safe, reliable and excellent services.Mandala has good on-time performance with over 88% of our flights departing on-time within 15 minutes and 99% within 1 hour of the scheduled departure time. We deliver excellent service to our valued customers."

Mandala offers a network of 20 destinations using a modern fleet of Airbus and Boeing 737-400s.
