Stenden University of Holland Establishes Bali Campus

Local Educational Venture with STIE Triatma Mulya Will Offer Bachelors Degrees in Hospitality Management.

Bali News: Stenden University of Holland Establishes Bali Campus

(10/25/2008)

On Monday, October 20, 2008, Sekolah Tinggi Ilmu Ekonomi Tiraitma Mula (STIE Triatma Mulya) and Stenden University of The Netherlands formally singed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) establishing an international degree program in Hospitality Management in Bali.

Offering Bachelors Degrees from the newly designated Stenden University Bali campus in Dalung, Denpasar, the course work will be similar to the international curriculum offered in Holland.

Shown on balidiscovery.com signing for the two schools are Dr. Ketut P. Suarthana, Director of STIE Triatma Mulya and Robert Veenstra, President of the Executive Board of Stenden University in Holland.

Dr. Suarthana declared the new Stenden University Bali represents a breakthrough in Bali-based educations by providing an international curriculum for Balinese students without having to travel far from home.

In response, Robert Veenstra said: "Internationalization and trans national education at Stenden is not just about delivering our programs in another country but is also about learning for us. We hope we can learn from the Balinese culture and hospitality, incorporating this experience and knowledge in our constant process of improving our programs for the benefit of our students and employees worldwide."

Speaking to the Bali Post, Veenstra added that international standards of education are guaranteed at the Bali facility because the curriculum and study materials at Stenden University Bali are exactly the same used in The Netherlands. Stenden is famous for its problem-based learning and case-based approach also in operation at the other Stenden campuses located in Germany, Qatar, South Africa, and Thailand.

The program offered in Bali will be a 4-year International Hospitality Management (IHM) program comprised of 3 years of academic study and a final year's internship) leading to a double Bachelors Degree (Dutch and Indonesian).
