World renowned pianist and singer David Harrington will appear in a one-night charity piano concert on Friday, February 12, 2010. A master of many musical styles, including classical, swing, early jazz and contemporary music – David Harrington will appear at the
Le Meridien's Cliff Lawn overlooking Pura Tanah Lot and the Indian Ocean.
Pre-performance cocktail start at 6:30 pm with the show at 7:30 pm.
Harrington's musical career began at the age of eight when he won the
TELDEC Piano Competition. Further accolades followed at the
Youth Musiziert and
Steinway & Sons competitions. He is a student of Prof. Robert Henry and Frank Guzinsky and has also studied piano, voice and conducting in Berlin and Hamburg. Harrington is the holder of a Master of Arts degree in theater studies specializing in musical theater from the Free University of Berlin. This led to engagements as a conductor/pianist for the musicals
Grease, Phantom of the Opera, Cats, I was Never Even in New York and work as the musical event director at
Schmidt's Tivoli Theater, Hamburg. David Harrington has also appeared as an international soloist including a performance at the Sydney Olympics.
His Bali appearance will be in support of
Starwood’s "Anak Bintang" helmet campaign for children. Initiated in August 2009, the program endeavors to address the obvious dangers posed by the thousands of children riding on motorcycles in Bali without the protection of a helmet.
