Fire Destroys Galuh Spa in Kuta, Bali
Fire Levels 13 Buildings and Sends Spa Customers Fleeing in Late Afternoon Blaze at Galuh Spa, Kuta, Bali.

A fire destroyed a popular local spa near Kuta on Friday, August 6, 2010, causing traffic jams that affected the main road connecting the Simpang Siur intersection and Bali's airport. The fire at the Galuh Spa was traced to a leaking 12 kg LPG tank that was ignited by sparks emitted from the spa's electrical system.
The resulting explosive fire quickly spread to other thatched treatment pavilions, and sending spa customers, many of whom were Japanese, scurrying to safety wrapped only in towels. Six fire trucks responded to the fire which destroyed 13 separate buildings as the fire spread and ignited additional LPG tanks used to fuel the hot water systems in each of the separate spa treatment units.
Because of the fire, which took more than 2 hours to bring under control, traffic on the already congested main artery crawled to a standstill for almost 3 hours.
According to Beritabali.com, three people were injured in the blaze and taken to the nearby Graha Asih Kuta hospital for treatment.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation by police and fire authorities in Bali.
