Bali Shopping Malls to be Banned in Residential Areas
Denpasar, Bali to Limit New Malls and Shopping Complexes to Main Roadways.

The Denpasar municipal government is seeking to control the future construction of shopping centers and malls in order to reduce traffic congestion.
Radar Bali reports that new construction requests for malls and shopping centers will only be allowed on Arterial roads, such as Jalan Bypass Ngurah Rai.
The head of the permit division for the Denpasar municipality, A.A. Rai Soryawan, explained how the current tendency to build shopping complexes within residential areas was contributing to traffic congestion in the city.
By limiting new shopping malls to areas served by larger arterial roads, the resulting additional traffic will be channeled away from residential areas.
