The Song and Dance of Seeking a Job

Smiles, Skills and Talent Needed to Work at W Retreat & Spa Bali – Seminyak as Talent Elimination Rounds Held for 900 Job Applicants.

(9/4/2010)

W Retreat & Spa Bali-Seminyak recently gathered some 900 interested job applicants for what they aptly call a "Talent Show." An unusual event held over a span of 5 days was conducted at a local bar, located a short distance from the "W" project site of the new luxury villa and resort project on Seminyak beach.

Reflecting the "W' brands penchant for fashion, music and entertainment – the "Talent Show" was among the final stages a process that began with more than 4,000 applications that had narrowed to a remaining 900 applicants.

In an effort to select the final 430 talented individuals needed to operate the hotel, participants at a talent show featuring aspiring culinary workers, housekeepers, financial officers, engineering staff, as well as food and beverage professionals were asked to take the stage to demonstrate some personal glimmer or spark that "W" wants to separate their team members from their other colleagues in Bali's tourism industry.

Before a discerning but generous-spirited panel of judges, each of the applicants took to the stage to sing a song, tell a story, dance, juggle or display some other aspect of their personality that will qualify them for their future employment role with the Resort.

Craig Seward, General Manager of W Retreat & Spa Bali-Seminyak said: "We deal with people everyday in our lives - consciously and sub-consciously: work, family, friends and interaction at parties. We choose potential Talents with attitude and personalities, and then hone their skills needed for the job. Personality is innate, it can't be inculcated. The Talent Show is designed with W vibe to bring out the personalities of the applicants,"

W Retreat & Spa Bali-Seminyak is scheduled to open in late 2010 from its location on Jl. Petitenget ,Seminyak, Kerobokan. The property will feature 152 Retreats comprised of private villas and suites.
