The national news agency Antara reports that two Indonesian airlines - Wings Air and Lion Air are operating new routes to Bali, Nusa Tenggara and Kalimantan in September 2010.
The general manager of Lion Air, Edward Sirait, confirmed that Wings Air would commence flights between Semarang and Denpasar (Bali), Denpasar and Tambolaka (West Sumba), Denpasar and Mataram (Lombok), Denpasar and Bima (Sumbawa), while Lion Air is flying between Surabaya and Palangkaraya (Kalimantan).
The new Wings Air routes will be flown by ATR72-500 aircraft with 72 saleable seats. Lion Air's flights to Palangkaraya will be flown with a Boeing 737-400.
The Wings Air services began operations on September 6, 2010. The Semarang to Denpasar and Denpasar to Mataram flights fly twice daily. The Denpasar to Tambolaka service flies four times each week on Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday.
Meanwhile, the new Wings Air service connecting Denpasar to Bima operates three times each week on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday.
The new Lion Air service between Surabaya and Palangkaraya began daily operations on September 7, 2010.
